What leads to your corneas becoming defective to the point where they are no longer able to perform the job they are designed for? One reason is the eye disease known as keratoconus, which thins out the cornea and causes it to lose its normal shape. Trauma or infection, which might cause scarring of the cornea can also be responsible. There are two types: full or partial transplant. The full one is known as a penetrating transplant, replacing all five layers of the cornea.
