The kids are back in school and already preparing for their first exams of the Fall semester. But there’s one exam they need to ensure they’re ready to have a successful school year: A comprehensive eye examination with our optometrist at Palisade Eye. If you forgot to include a visit to our optometrist on your back to school list, it’s not too late to make an appointment!
Your child’s vision — whether for reading textbooks or digital screens — is about a lot more than clear eyesight. Vision plays a crucial role in understanding, responding to and remembering the material they are reading. Without those functions, your child will have to work harder to learn effectively, according to the American Optometric Association. What’s more, the child may not even realize they are having a vision problem and parents may mistakenly believe they’re struggling because of other factors. Proper eyesight is also vitally important for any student who’s participating in sports.
Your child’s eyesight may change more frequently than an adult’s, making an annual trip to the optometrist even more important. Parents should be on the lookout for signs such as frequent blinking or rubbing the eyes, headaches, losing their place while reading or forgetting what they’ve read, and complaining of fatigue or discomfort of the eyes, especially when reading.
During your child’s exam we’ll check all aspects of the health of their eyes, including the clarity of their vision, movement and focusing of the eyes, and evaluate the health of the eyes and surrounding tissues. We’ll evaluate whether the child’s vision has changed since the previous visit and prescribe refractive lenses if needed to compensate for near- or far-sightedness.
Trust our optometrist at Palisade Eye to provide top-tier care for your family’s eyesight, using the latest diagnostic equipment and with a level of professionalism and service that’s unsurpassed. Please contact us today to schedule an appointment.
