In years past, cataract surgery removed the cataract but one had to have thick glasses or contacts to restore the vision. No we have these options:
- Basic monofocal lens: With single vision vision lens implants, you will probably need glasses for reading.
- Astigmatic lens: A patient with high astigmatism will still require glasses for near and distance. The new Acrysof Tor® makes it possible to reduce or eliminate astigmatism. There is an additional but affordable cost for this.
- Acrysof ReSTOR®: This new technology implant provides full range of vision-- near, far and everything in between . 80% of patients never need glasses again. Those who do need glasses need them for only for very specific tasks. There are payment plans to make this option affordable.
